| Chairman Richard Urwin
I came to SCUBA diving rather late in life. Having spent many years snorkelling in exotic places around the world I finally came to my senses in May 2006 and joined Buxton SAC as a complete novice. Since then I have dedicated a lot of time to the development of my skills (Advanced Diver & Various Instructor Grades) and of my role within the club. After being co-opted onto a number of sub committees it was a great honour to be elected as the club Chairperson at this year AGM. We have a great club of which I am extremely proud to be a member and to which I am fully committed to help with its continued development. |

Diving Officer Nick Bailey
From watching the Jacques Cousteau tv series I always wanted to dive. In the late 80's I was given the chance whilst serving within the RAF. From then on I have enjoyed diving in the Red Sea, Falkland Islands, Maldives, Ascension Island, Portugal, France, Ireland, Malta, Morocco and the UK. Also in Gibraltar where I started to attain my Instructor qualifications during a three year posting. On return to the UK my posting to me to Southern England where I was a member of the RAF units dive club and held a number of posts at the club. On leaving the RAF I started working as a Diving Instructor then moving to work for one of the SCUBA equipment manufacturers. Which lead me to my current job. That move brought me to the Buxton SAC where I have helped with teaching for the past five years.

| Training Officer Yvonne
Tomlinson
Joined the club in 1984 and am the longest serving member of the club having gained Open Water Instructor and Advanced Diver grades. There have been many changes during my time - there were only 12 members and only £3.84 in the bank and no equipment or boat. We now have around 50 members at any one time, a 5.2 mtr rib boat and more than 20 sets of diving equipment with a much healthier bank balance. I have held the committee positions of Secretary and Diving Officer, before holding the current post of Training Officer. I am also the editor of the clubs monthly magazine 'Free-Flow'. I feel both privileged and proud to be a member of this successful club and hope to have many years to come. |

Secretary Wendy Bainbridge
I joined Buxton Sub Aqua Club in Autumn 2004 after
spending many years on holiday with small children watching divers
coming and going and desperately wanting to have a go. As my
children grew older I decided to have a try dive in Menorca and became
completely hooked. I am a qualified Sport Diver and am shortly to
complete my Dive Leader qualification and hope to gain an Assistant
Instructor qualification next year and give a little back to the Club
that I am proud to be a member of. Shortly after joining Buxton
SAC I was asked if I would like to be Club Secretary, a position I have
held for the last 5 years.

Started in 2005 after putting it off for too many years! took to it
like a duck to water and have never looked back. Rapidly worked my way to
Dive Leader, soon to be Advanced, and one exam away from being an Open
Water Instructor. I wish i had taken it up many years ago, all those years
wasted caving and climbing!!
